Hurricane Support Trusses Erected!
The three trusses to support the Hurricane are now up!! Next concrete foundation work, painting of the trusses and placing the Hurricane on its destined pedestal. The photo above shows the third truss being lifted into position late this morning. Sighs of relief all round! I can assure you that this is right to the wire . . . . !!
This has not been without some (severe!) challenges, but we will get there thanks to the extraordinary efforts of a dedicated team. And the support of cash donors and the amazing support by way of goods and services from Thames businesses.
Sadly we had to cancel the parade of military vehicles on the afternoon of Saturday 12th, but everything else is go – and on track. A copy of the programme of events is available on the BOB80th page on this website.
Additional funds are still required to complete this Stage 1 (Stage 2 is the statue of Sir Keith and landscaping next year) and to run the Battle of Britain events. Donation information and our bank account details are shown on the main page of the website.
