Battle of Britain 2021 Commemorations - Cancelled due to Covid-19 Lockdown
The Battle of Britain Commemorations 2021 in Thames will be held over two days in September: Saturday 11th September and Sunday 12th September.
The programme is:
Saturday 11th September:
From 10:30am to 2:30pm there will be a display of restored military vehicles at the Thames Airfield, Ngati Maru Highway;
6:00pm at the GBD, 700 Pollen Street, Thames: RSA Cocktail Party at which the UK Defence Advisor to New Zealand, RAF Wing Commander Andy Bryant will give a brief address.
Sunday 12th September:
11:00am at the Thames Airfield, Ngati Maru Highway: Wreath Laying Service at which speakers will be:
Thames Ward Councillor, Sally Christie; Auckland Base Commander, RNZAF Group Captain Andy Scott; and MP for Coromandel, Hon. Scott Simpson.
The MC will be Russell Skeet and the Kerepehi Brass Band will be in attendance as they were last year.
The Thames Civic Centre is not available this year as the forecourt will be occupied by a Wedding Expo event.
From 12:30pm the Thames Workingmen’s Club (the base of the RSA in Thames) will be open for refreshments and lunches.
